New STARs must attend certification training prior to the Fall 2008 season, except those who completed a class after July 2007 and already received a 2008 USSF badge.  Returning STARs with 2008 badges are not required to attend recertification training until after the Fall 2008 season.

To fulfill the initial training requirement, STARs may attend any New Referee certification class offered in Maryland, DC, or Virginia that leads to a USSF certification for referee grades 12, 9, or 8.  The USSF Grade 12 (assistant referee) certification classes are specifically designed for our STARs and are available on these dates:

Saturday, August 2: Frederick, MD
Saturday, August 2: Fairfax, VA
Monday, August 4, and Thursday, August 7: Columbia, MD
Saturday, August 9: Rockville, MD
Saturday, August 16: Fairfax, VA
Saturday, August 23: Fairfax, VA
Sunday, August 24: Great Mills, MD
Saturday, September 6: Fairfax, VA

Cost for all classes is $65.  This is an increase from prior years caused by an increase in fees announced by USSF earlier this month.  For a complete list of available classes, and to register, see the State Referee Program websites:
